Our client, The Chalmers Foundation, is searching for a Director of Philanthropy to join their team and lead revenue development efforts with strategic and operational leadership as they plan and implement their most ambitious project yet!

The Chalmers Foundation raises funds to support healthy, caring communities by enhancing health and well-being through innovative and effective programs and initiatives. Meeting the needs of patients is the primary goal of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and the Foundation. They have an expert, caring staff who raise funds to ensure their hospital is equipped with the best technology and knowledge available. The hospital caregivers work very hard on behalf of patients and their families, and the Foundation's task is to give them the tools they need to do their job well.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Philanthropy will serve as a strategist, a sounding board and operational leader; acting as a second in command within the revenue development office. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chalmers Foundation Board of Directors and its Executive Committee as they continue to work towards optimal growth and enhanced patient care through philanthropy.

The incoming Director of Philanthropy will drive all aspects of revenue development strategy, including planning, implementation and evaluation of the Annual Giving, Major Giving and Planned Giving streams. As a talented relationship broker, this candidate will also manage his or her own portfolio of key Major and Planned Giving prospects.

Credentials and profile: 

  • Natural bridge builder who is deeply community oriented and thrives on crafting innovative, creative frameworks around complex problem/solution dynamics
  • Minimum of 5 years major/key gift fundraising and two or more years of management experience; Capital campaign experience is a plus
  • Proven track record of soliciting and closing up to six-figure gifts
  • Fluency with Raiser's Edge or another donor database
  • Strategic, big-picture thinker, with the ability to recognize and plan for detail
  • Goal-oriented individual with sound judgement and integrity, as well as a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization
  • Creative, social-focused thinking, resourceful, and entrepreneurial
  • Proven ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and alter strategic advancement plans
  • Skilled at managing human resources (paid and volunteer) toward specific production goals
  • Responsive to individual donor interest while articulating a vision for The Chalmers Foundation
  • Participative work style with the ability to positively give and receive feedback
  • Proven ability to thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
