On behalf of our client, the New Brunswick Nurses Union (NBNU), Priority is currently seeking a fluently bilingual and highly motivated individual to join their team as an Education & Research Officer

The NBNU is a bilingual labour union representing over 6,900 Registered Nurses throughout the province of New Brunswick. NBNU is dedicated to upholding and promoting the economic, social and professional interests of its members and is a democratic organization.

Reporting to the organization's Executive Director as well as the President, the Education & Research Officer will recommend, develop, and coordinate education solutions for NBNU's members. You will provide strategic insight and research to support NBNU's health and nursing policy, government and labour relations as well as contract negotiations and communications. 

In this role you will act as a liaison between local union executives, grassroots members and senior union leadership, working with all parties to develop and maintain long and short-term strategies for NBNU's education programs. It is your responsibility to envision, develop and implement education programs for union members with a variety of delivery methods.

This is a mostly autonomous role that will rely on the incumbent's ability to research and recommend programs for members' betterment. The chosen candidate must be an excellent communicator and have the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the team.

  Experience and Education Required:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in the area of nursing, labour relations, social sciences, or adult education
  • Five years' experience in adult education, content design and conference presentations preferably in a unionized environment
  • The ability to read, write and speak in both French and English
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a variety of membership from differing backgrounds through the use of tact, maturity and cultural awareness
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to seek out, analyze and translate data to summarized publication
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in order to manage changing priorities
